... to San Diego sunsets and Greek Island sunsets are NAG sunsets. In my first month and one week on ABOT, I never once saw the sunset other than sometimes from the security cameras since I was always on watch when the sun went down. Now that I am on the 6pm-midnight shift, I get to see the sunset. The downside to this watch is that by the time I get off watch, wash up, spin down and burn off the caffiene high I need to stay awake on watch, it is 1-1:30am before I get to sleep and have to get up around 6:30. For some reason. those 5 hours just aren't enough (I know, I know, a SWO should be able to handle 5 hours of sleep a night, and while I used to be able to handle that, and less, I am preparing myself to assimilate into the aviator culture of the carrier. Mando-crew rest applies to DESRON too, right ? :)
Now I have been setting aside 2 hours in the afternoon to take a nap. For those of you who know me well, I am NOT a napper. Unless it's 4-5 hours, it's not worth it to me and I wake up feeling groggy and miserable. I have negated this problem by strapping on my running shoes before I even know that I'm awake from my nap and working off the grogginess. It has given me the energy so far to get through the watch. I was running the other day and finally got to see the start of the sunset, so I grabbed these pictures.

In other exciting news, our new DESRON CTG-IM unit coins arrived just in time for my departure! I only pre-ordered 2 but wish I had gotten some more! Oh well, one for me and one to trade I suppose. They look pretty cool.
